Goals are your vision of the future

If you have ever been to a job interview, you probably recall the question ’Where do you see yourself in 5 years?’ Normally people give the ambitious answer, I want to be a team leader or a shift manager or whatever position is above the one you are applying for.
But, did you ever ask that question to yourself, personally? Do you know what you would like to be doing in a year, 2, 5, 10, 20?

We all realise that goals can change during a lifetime, we drop off college as the course wasn’t what we expected, we recognise that after all marketing isn’t our thing or working late hours in project management isn’t really something that makes us happy.

How do you keep attuned to your true nature and curiosity? How do you keep growing? What are your goals? What’s the ultimate thing that you would like to achieve in life?

Goals are your vision of the future. Is your future interesting, fun, captivating? Is your future worth getting up in the morning? Are you in control of your own life and happiness or you have given up that power to someone else’s?

Every Solstice and Equinox I review, reframe and set up new goals. Yesterday was no different and with renewed sense of excitement I have created a road map for what I would like to achieve in the next six months.

Surely you need to keep track of it daily and weekly to ensure that you are doing everything you possibly can to get there but I also like the ritual of sitting down every couple of months, truly connect to myself and re-evaluate my life goals. I focus on changing, reframing or eliminating what’s not making me happy and what’s not working, reassess possible fears or roadblocks and finally realign the strategy and action plan.

If you have mastered the art of goal setting you are probably well attuned with your passion, needs and motivations but if that’s not the case you can always reframe and create new goals.
